Personal income tax revenue reached a record high of nearly VND167 trillion ($7.01 billion) in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 27 per cent, according to the General Department of Taxation.

The figure exceeded the annual target by 38 per cent, or nearly VND50 trillion ($2.1 billion).

The increase was attributed to strong growth in the stock and real estate markets in 2021 and the promotion of information technology application with the launch of the eTax Mobile app.

As of December 31, 2022, nearly 352,000 taxpayers used the eTax app and 115,000 tax payment transactions were successfully carried out via the app with a total amount of over VND381 billion ($16 million).
