Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has decided to appoint Mr. Tran Duc Thang as acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment, replacing his predecessor Do Duc Duy, according to a report from the Government News.

Mr. Tran Duc Thang was promoted to the new role from his previous position as Standing Deputy Inspector General of the Government Inspectorate.

Earlier, he had served as Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee from October 2022 to June 30, 2025.

On July 17, 2025, the Politburo decided to issue a warning to Do Duc Duy, former Minister of Agriculture and Environment for violating the Party regulations and State law in performing his duties when he served as Vice Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment was established on March 1, 2025 following the merger of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
