Vietnam’s agriculture sector witnessed many bright spots in the first two months of 2023, with a strong increase in aquaculture output, seafood exports, and agricultural production.
The country reaped a total of nearly 666,000 tons of aquatic products from aquaculture, a year-on-year increase of 2.8 per cent, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
They include 479,600 tons of fish, 100,400 tons of shrimp, and 85,900 tons of other products.
The total catch was 519,600 tons.
Aquatic exports totaled $286.94 million in the first half of February, a year-on-year increase of 42 per cent, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). It predicted that export turnover for the month will grow 29 per cent year-on-year.
As of mid-February, the country had cultivated 2.69 million hectares of rice, equivalent to 100.5 per cent of the figure in the same period last year.
The total area of trees planted in the two-month period was 18,800 ha, a year-on-year increase of 4.8 per cent.
