Air transport sees strong growth in first half

Nearly 42 million passengers have been transported by air in the period, representing a 10% increase year-on-year.

A total of 41.3 million passengers have been transported by air in the first half of this year, up 10% year-on-year, according to a report from the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV).

Among the transported passengers, international tourist arrivals accounted for 23 million, while domestic arrivals stood at 18.3 million, up 13% and 7%, respectively.

Meanwhile, cargo transport was estimated at 695,700 tons, up 14.6%, with 580,000 tons transported internationally, a year-on-year increase of 17.7%, and 115,700 tons domestically, up 1.3% year-on-year.

During the first half, Vietnamese airlines transported 28 million passengers, down 7.3% from the same period last year, and 223,600 tons of cargos, up 6.2%.
