The Au Lac AI Alliance, a landmark initiative aimed at positioning Vietnam as a regional AI leader, made its debut in Hanoi on June 20.
The Alliance brings together over 20 leading technology companies and startups, including Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, MobiFone, VNPT, FPT, CMC, BKAV, Misa, MoMo, VNPAY, Zalo, AI For Vietnam, AI Hay, N2TP, and Finhay. It also includes participation from top academic institutions such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, Academy of Cryptography Techniques, Ton Duc Thang University, and several others.
The Alliance’s core mission is to develop Large Language Models (LLMs) that can understand and generate Vietnamese with high accuracy and cultural relevance—boosting public knowledge and supporting economic growth.
In addition to technological innovation, the Alliance seeks to foster an open, inclusive, and transparent AI ecosystem. It advocates for free access to public AI assets—including source code, datasets, and models—for both personal and commercial use. This open framework aims to inspire innovation, accelerate AI adoption, and reinforce national AI sovereignty.
Committed to ethical development, the Alliance also prioritizes the creation of safe and responsible AI products in line with Vietnamese laws and ethical guidelines.
Guided by the principles of Consensus, Respect, and Open Community, the Au Lac AI Alliance will focus on three strategic pillars:
First, collaborating on Vietnamese-language LLMs and building an open AI innovation community.
Second, shaping frameworks, codes of conduct, and policy recommendations to ensure AI development is safe and legally compliant.
Third, hosting education programs, competitions, and community-building activities to strengthen AI literacy and workforce capacity.
