Binh Dinh Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung and Chairman of the province's People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan on October 22 met with Germany's PNE Group CEO Per Hornung Pedersen to discuss offshore wind power projects.

Mr. Dung emphasized the south central province's commitment to developing its marine economy, given its 134km coastline. He highlighted the province's robust transportation infrastructure, which will be further enhanced by investments in the North-South high-speed railway and upgrades to Phu Cat airport and Quy Nhon port, both located in the province.

.Earlier, PNE proposed a 2,000MW offshore wind power project in Bình Định, divided into three phases with a total investment of approximately $4.6 billion. Once operational, the project is expected to generate 7.1 billion kWh of electricity annually, contributing to energy security and local economic development.

Mr. Pedersen of PNE Group expressed the company's interest in Vietnam as its first Asian market and Binh Dinh as its initial project, named Hon Trau. The group has been researching this project since 2019 and believes it aligns with Binh Dinh province's priorities.

PNE is prepared to rapidly implement the project upon investment approval, according to Mr. Pedersen.
