The Ministry of Transport has agreed with a plan to expand Song Than railway station in southern Binh Duong province to develop it into an international intermodal rail terminal.
Song Than station is the biggest cargo center in Vietnam’s railway network, handling over 1.6 million tons of goods in 2022.
It has two cargo yards. One is located inside the station an area of 87,000 sq m and the other is outside on 100,000 sq m.
To cater to international goods transport, the station needs a bonded warehouse on 10,000 sq m, while its existing warehouse is on 8,500 sq m.
The station’s expansion is aimed at turning Binh Duong into a center of import and distribution in the region.
