Authorities in the northern province of Cao Bang have launched a campaign to accelerate site clearance for the construction of the Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway.

The four-lane link, which will connect Cao Bang with neighboring Lang Son province, has a designed length of 121 km and a roadbed width of 17 meters allowing a speed limit of 80 kph.

Total investment is estimated at VND14.33 trillion ($597 million).

Construction of the project kicked off on January 1, 2024, and it is expected to open to traffic around the end of 2025 or early 2026.

Under planning, the expressway will create a new trade route connecting Lach Huyen International Port in northern Hai Phong city with Chongqing and Urumqi in China, Khorgos in Kazakhstan, and on to Europe, thereby improving the economic competitiveness of both Cao Bang and Lang Son and other nearby cities and provinces.
