A new terminal will be built at Cai Bi International Airport in northern Hai Phong city to be able to serve 13 million passengers per year by 2030.
This is part of a master development plan for the airport in the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, which has been approved by the Ministry of Transport.
Under the plan, the airport is also capable of handling 250,000 tons of cargo by 2030.
By 2050, the airport will be upgraded to reach level 4E and to handle 18 million passengers and 500,000 tons of cargo annually.
Cat Bi is an international air gateway that plays a key role in the socio-economic development strategy of Hai Phong and the country’s northern coastal region. The airport’s current terminal was inaugurated in May 2016.
Over the past years, the number of passengers in Cat Bi international Airport has increased significantly. In the period from 2013 to 2017, the average number of passengers rose by 26.8% and the cargo output increased by 20% annually.
