Cho Moi - Bac Kan Expressway to be expanded to four lanes

The Management Board of Project 2 has proposed the Ministry of Transport approve an adjustment to the investment policy for the construction of the Cho Moi - Bac Kan Expressway in northern mountainous Bac Kan province.

Initially approval was given to build the 28.8-km expressway with two lanes and total investment capital of VND2 trillion ($84.35 million).

The management board has now proposed expanding the expressway to four lanes with estimated capital of over VND5.75 trillion ($239 million), allowing a maximum speed of 80 kph. Certain sections of the link will have a speed limit of 100 kph.

Construction is scheduled to begin this year and be completed in 2026.

Upon completion, the expressway is expected to help address transport bottlenecks in Vietnam’s northern mountainous area.
