Vietnam’s customs sector has set a target of completing the building of smart customs by 2030, under the Digital Transformation Plan of the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
The sector will also strive to complete digital customs by 2025, including comprehensive digital transformation in customs management with an IT system that has a high degree of integration and openness and meets international standards and the conditions necessary for the automated processing of all customs processes.
All customs dossiers are to be digitalized by 2030.
All high-risk goods transported by containers subject to customs supervision are to be monitored by modern technical devices, and all key international ports and border gates are to be equipped with cargo and baggage screening systems, camera monitoring systems, and supporting equipment for customs inspections and supervision.
In order to improve debt management, all import-export enterprises incurring tax debts will be automatically monitored and information updated on the customs electronic system.
