The Da Nang Center for Innovation and Startup Support (under the city's Department of Science and Technology) on May 20 announced that Da Nang has climbed 130 spots to reach 766th globally in the “Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2025” published by StartupBlink, a leading global startup ecosystem research and mapping center.

Da Nang was also selected as one of 12 outstanding ecosystems worldwide to present at the online launch event of the 2025 Index, recognizing the city as one of the world’s hottest startup hubs in 2025.

According to the center, this international recognition is a strong testament to Da Nang’s comprehensive strategy to build a technology-driven innovation ecosystem, focusing on cutting-edge fields such as AI, semiconductors, blockchain, biotechnology, quantum computing, and renewable energy.

With a vision to become Asia’s leading innovation and startup center by 2045, Da Nang is expanding international cooperation while consolidating its role as an economic and tech hub in central Vietnam and progressing toward becoming a national innovation leader.

In recent years, Da Nang has issued nearly 30 policies to support innovation and startups, many of which are pioneering and unprecedented nationwide. Some of these include controlled trials of new tech solutions, tax exemptions for innovation-related activities, support for accessing public science and technology infrastructure.

The city is also investing in strategic infrastructure, such as the headquarters of the Innovation Startup Space and the Software Park No. 2 - designed to accommodate up to 6,000 tech workers and a modern digital infrastructure system of international standards

Today, Da Nang boasts a vibrant and diverse startup ecosystem, hosting over 50 events annually that attract thousands of participants, both local and international. Numerous co-working spaces, incubators, and startup support centers have been established, fostering a dynamic environment for young entrepreneurs.

High quality human resources are another strength of the central city, which is currently home to 18 universities, 15 colleges, and 44 vocational institutions with a total training capacity of over 100,000 students per year. Da Nang also employs 251 professors and associate professors, along with a large community of researchers, scientists, and tech professionals

Further boosting its appeal, Da Nang has been approved by the central government to explore the establishment of a Free Trade Zone, and to develop an International Financial Center. This will attract strategic partners, financial institutions, legal and consulting services, and audit and accounting firms, reinforcing the city’s ambition to be a regional innovation powerhouse.
