Da Nang seaport water area to be expanded

Gia Huy

Some regulations on Da Nang maritime zones are expected to be supplemented for development of marine economy and logistics.

The Ministry of Construction (MoC) is currently seeking public feedback on a draft circular which will announce the water area of Da Nang's seaport and the management area of the Da Nang Maritime Administration.

According to the draft, the water area of Da Nang's seaport is proposed to be expanded towards the sea, covering a total area of approximately 16,800 ha. Additionally, two boundary points are to be added to ensure alignment with the approved detailed land and water area planning.

According to the Vietnam Maritime and Inland Waterway Administration (under the MoC), the inclusion of these maritime areas will provide a legal basis for state management by the Da Nang Maritime Administration, particularly in ship arrival and departure procedures, as well as in calculating maritime fees and charges for ships moving between areas as per regulations.

According to the Vietnam Maritime and Inland Waterway Administration, the issuance of the circular announcing the water area of Da Nang's seaport and the management area of the Da Nang Maritime Administration is necessary to ensure synchronization, modernization, and enhance state management efficiency in maritime affairs. It also meets the requirements for marine economic development, logistics, and national defense and security in the new context.
