Deputy PM receives company leaders at Chinese expo

Company leaders attending China International Import Expo in Shanghai meet with Deputy Prime Minister.

The Vietnamese Government always helps AstraZeneca successfully carry out the Group’s projects in Vietnam in the fields of health, biopharmaceuticals, and healthcare ecosystems and sustainable development, the Government News has reported Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha as telling his guest, Mr. Pascal Soriot, AstraZeneca’s Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, during a reception on November 5 within the framework of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, which the Deputy Prime Minister is attending alongside a delegation from Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister Ha highly spoke of AstraZeneca’s supply of vaccine to Vietnam in the fight against Covid-19 as well as its contributions to vaccine justice globally.

Mr. Soriot said that besides projects to invest in, study, and transfer technologies in vaccine and pharmaceutical projects, AstraZeneca has participated in many other projects with the aim of promoting sustainability and healthcare, including the AZ Forest program, the Young Health program, and For Healthy Lungs, among others.

Group leaders also look forward to consulting with and supporting Vietnam in developing a carbon market.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Ha also hosted Dr. Tao Longzhong, Founder and Chairman of China’s Jiangsu Runergy New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.

He told his guest that Vietnam looks forward to strongly developing renewable energy and manufacturing new materials such as green hydrogen and green ammonia.

“This is an opportunity for foreign investors in Vietnam to more deeply integrate into various stages of the renewable energy and new energy sectors as well as serve the export of energy, equipment, and accessories to global markets,” he said.

He also proposed that the company work on researching and developing feasible technological solutions for solar panels, smart grid transmission, and the production of green hydrogen, green ammonia, and rechargeable batteries.

Dr. Longzhong told the Deputy Prime Minister about the first phase of construction at the company’s silicon and semiconductor manufacturing plant in northern Nghe An province’s Hoang Mai I Industrial Park, which has total investment of $440 million.

He called for support from Vietnamese authorities so the company can expand the project in the phases to come.
