Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Chairman of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee (the committee), highlighted the importance of aviation security as an integral part of national security.

At a meeting of the committee held on October 22, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the need for clear separation between the government's management role and the tasks undertaken by enterprises to ensure comprehensive and consistent implementation of aviation security measures.

The Ministry of Transport reported that aviation security tasks have been implemented comprehensively, effectively, and on schedule since the beginning of 2024.

In the first 10 months of 2024, security control forces at airports nationwide detected 223 violations, including illegal transportation of weapons, supporting tools, drugs, prohibited goods; theft at airports; spreading false information about bombs or explosives; and violations of regulations regarding the use of air travel documents.

Ministries, agencies, and localities have collaborated to implement training programs and drills to enhance the response capabilities of functional forces to handle illegal interference with civil aviation operations.

The Ministry of Transport has closely coordinated with the Ministries of Defense, Public Security, and Foreign Affairs to advise the committee, relevant agencies, units, and localities on preventing and combating activities that threaten aviation security.

International cooperation in aviation security is being strengthened within multilateral and bilateral frameworks. Vietnam is an active and responsible member of the international aviation community, updating information from ICAO and international experience about aviation security.
