The Dien Bien Provincial People’s Committee in Vietnam’s north has submitted to the Prime Minister a project building the Dien Bien - Tay Trang border gate expressway in the first phase, with total investment of more than VND9.2 trillion ($389 million) in the build-transfer-lease (BTL) form.

It has proposed the Prime Minister approve investment of over VND4.6 trillion ($196 million) from the State budget for the project.

The project is aimed at completing the Hoa Binh - Son La - Dien Bien route as planned, creating a socio-economic growth driver and transportation links with economic zones, national tourism sites, and industrial parks.

The 44-km expressway will run between Dien Bien Phu and Muong Ang district.

It is scheduled for implementation from 2024 to 2026 and completion by 2027.
