Total electricity generation in September reached 23.5 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 6.7 per cent, according to Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).
The figure brought total power generation in the first nine months of the year to 209.9 billion kWh, up 3.1 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Of the nine-month total, 97.2 billion kWh was generated from coal thermal power plants, accounting for 46.3 per cent, 58.05 billion kWh from hydro power plants, or 27.7 per cent, and 29.13 billion kWh from renewable energy, or 13.9 per cent.
EVN and relevant agencies began construction of 50 electricity projects during the period and put 60 into operation.
As of September 29, there were 81 transitional renewable projects with a total capacity of over 4,597 MW that had submitted applications for price negotiations and power purchase agreements.
