Vietnam’s exports of crabs and shellfish posted a remarkable increase of 67% year-on-year to reach over $228 million in the first nine months of 2024, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Major export markets include China, Hong Kong (China), Japan, the US, Canada and the Republic of Korea.
The rise in sales came as these major markets, especially China, pumped up demand for Vietnamese crabs. Crab exports to China in the nine-month period skyrocketed 784% compared to the same period last year.
The US is considered one among key markets of Vietnam, with the export value rose 8% year-on-year and accounting for nearly 23% of the total export revenue.
