The Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee has proposed that the Ministry of Transport add an expressway connecting the central province with the central highlands’ Kon Tum province to national road network planning.
The 136-km expressway would have four lanes, allowing a maximum speed of 80-100 km/h.
It will connect with the Eastern North-South Expressway as it passes through Duc Pho commune in Quang Ngai province.
Investment in the expressway will be made in line with the Politburo’s policy on developing the central highlands region and promoting regional links. It will also help create an economic corridor along Bo Y - Kon Tum - Mang Den - Quang Ngai.
The project will be implemented under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Vietnam has put into operation 1,163 km of expressways in the 2000-2021 period. The government has set a target of building 3,000 km by 2025.
