Wartsila from Finland has proposed building a power plant using internal combustion engines (ICE) in northern Ninh Binh province, the “Lao dong” (Labor) online newspaper has reported.

The plan was revealed at a recent working session between Mr. Frederic Carron, Vice President in charge of the Middle East & Asia region at Wartsila, and provincial authorities.

Total investment is estimated at VND5.6 trillion ($235 million).

The project will have 17 ICE systems with a designed capacity of 300 MW and can be expanded to 1,500 MW.

Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People’s Committee Pham Quang Ngoc asked the Finnish corporation to provide more information on the project, particularly environmental protection measures, development directions, and sustainable energy supply.

He added that Ninh Binh hopes that more Finnish investors will come to seek investment opportunities in the province.
