In August 2026, central Ha Tinh province’s Industrial Production Index (IPI) rose by an estimated 5.75% month-on-month and surged 64.19% compared to the same period in 2025.
According to the Provincial People’s Committee, this positive growth reflects the steadily improving production capacity of the province’s key industrial sectors.
Overall, for the first eight months of 2026, the province's IPI increased by 40.19% year-on-year. The processing and manufacturing sector continued to be the primary driver, growing by 39.40% and contributing 29.94 percentage points to the overall growth.
The electricity production and distribution sector rose by 52.18%, adding 10.3 percentage points. Conversely, the mining sector saw an 8.51% decline, slightly reducing the overall index by 0.14 points, while water supply and waste treatment grew by 3.4%.
Notably, metal production remains a cornerstone of Ha Tinh's industry. Over the past eight months, this sector grew by 20.50% year-on-year, with stainless steel output reaching nearly 3 million tons (up 21.95%). This growth momentum was driven by businesses proactively expanding into new markets and securing large-scale export contracts, boosting both production and consumption.
In addition to steel, the new energy technology sector is making an increasingly significant contribution to the province’s industrial landscape. In the first eight months of 2026, the production of electrical equipment surged by 66.89%, primarily fueled by the manufacturing of lithium batteries and battery packs. Production lines have remained stable with strong output and consumption levels, meeting the demand of the electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage markets. Specifically, lithium-ion battery production soared by 126.04%.
Another major driver is the power generation sector. The Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant began commercial operations for both of its units in April 2026. Combined with the stable operation of the Vung Ang I Thermal Power Plant, this has significantly boosted the province’s electricity output. By the end of August 2026, the production and distribution index for this sector increased by 52.18%, with total electricity output estimated at 12.4 billion kWh—a 54.06% increase year-on-year.
