Northern Hai Phong city will become a model in Vietnam’s logistics development strategy by 2035 with a vision to 2045, according to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan.
Speaking at a recent meeting between the ministry and authorities in Hai Phong to discuss the plan to build a logistics development strategy, Mr. Tan said Hai Phong has potential and advantages to become a logistics services development center of the country and the region.
It is the sole locality in the north to have the five modes of transportation - road, rail, air, sea, and inland waterway - together with a network of seaports that are favorable for logistics development.
The city’s logistics services recorded annual growth of 18-23 per cent during the 2021-2020 period, according to Director of the city’s Department of Industry and Trade Bui Quang Hai.
Last year, over 160 million tons of cargo were transported via seaports in Hai Phong. The figure is expected to reach 180 million tons this year.
