The Mekong Delta’s Hau Giang province is forecast to lead the country in terms of growth in the first half of the year, posting 14.21 per cent, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
It is expected to be followed by northern Bac Ninh province and northern Hai Phong city, with growth of 10.94 per cent and 9.94 per cent, respectively.
Other cities and provinces with the top 10 forecasted growth rates include Quang Ninh, Ca Mau, Nam Dinh, Hung Yen, Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, and Thai Binh.
Hau Giang posted export revenue of $265.09 million in the first five months of the year, equivalent to 99.38 per cent of the figure in the same period last year.
The province’s Index of Industrial Production rose 13.92 per cent year-on-year in the period.
Total retail sales of goods and services stood at over VND23.3 trillion ($983 million), a year-on-year increase of 13.3 per cent.
It recorded growth of 13.94 per cent last year, leading the Mekong Delta region and ranking fourth among Vietnam’s 63 cities and provinces.
