Giang Hoang -

New factory positions Vietnam to play a vital role in the global energy transition.

Hitachi Energy, a global technology leader advancing a sustainable energy future for all, recently celebrated a significant milestone with the opening of a cutting-edge transformer factory in northern Bac Ninh province. The facility, specializing in liquid-filled power and distribution transformers, doubles the previous factory’s capacity while maintaining top-tier global standards.

The expansion aligns with Hitachi Energy’s commitment to advancing technology and ensuring exceptional quality in the energy sector. With a focus on electricity as the backbone of the energy system, the new factory positions Vietnam to play a vital role in the global energy transition.

“This factory underscores our continued commitment to advancing a sustainable energy future for all,” said Mr. Chandan Singh, Country Managing Director, Vietnam, at Hitachi Energy. “The investment is part of the company’s global capacity expansion plan to meet the rising demand for energy transition.”

“The opening of the Bac Ninh factory will help us in advancing the world’s energy system to be more sustainable, flexible, and secure,” said Mr. Bruno Melles, Managing Director, Business Unit Transformers, at Hitachi Energy.

Beyond its technological advancements, the factory prioritizes environmental responsibility. With LEED Gold certification, it operates on 100 per cent fossil-free electricity, employs high Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) roof materials, practices rainwater harvesting and wastewater recycling, and monitors indoor air quality with carbon dioxide sensors.

Employing over 500 people, the factory not only contributes to the energy transition but also supports the local community’s social and economic progress. As testament to innovation, the factory introduces TVP® (Transient Voltage Protection) technology in its distribution transformers, enhancing reliability and offering complete protection against transient voltages in applications like data centers and solar and wind generation.
