Industrial growth continues in HCMC

Southern city’s Index of Industrial Production rose 6.6% year-on-year in August and 2.8% in the first eight months.

Ho Chi Minh City’s industrial sector recorded positive growth in August, with the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) increasing 3.4 per cent compared to July and 6.6 per cent year-on-year, according to the city’s Statistics Office.

The IIP rose 2.8 per cent year-on-year in the first eight months of 2023.

During the eight-month period, total retail sales of goods and services in the city reached over VND764.46 trillion ($31.85 billion), up 7.6 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Of which, the retail sale of goods hit over VND452.6 trillion ($18.85 billion), a year-on-year rise of 9.6 per cent.

Figures from the Statistics Office also show that the city’s CPI rose 0.7 per cent year-on-year in August and 3.45 per cent in the first eight months.
