Northern Ninh Binh province welcomed nearly 5.7 million tourists in the first five months of this year, a year-on-year surge of 36.1%, according to the provincial Statistics Office.

Total tourism revenue was estimated at over VND5.3 trillion ($209 million), up 55.5% year-on-year.

The province also recorded significant growth in other key economic indicators with the Index Industrial Production (IIP) rising 5.75% compared to the same period in 2023.

Electricity production and distribution posted the highest annual growth of 63.61%, following by mining (18.89%), waste management and remediation activities  (5.19%) and manufacturing and processing  (4.12%).

Total industrial production value during the five-month period was estimated at over VND39.7 trillion ($1.56 billion), up 6.3% year-on-year.

The province recorded a year-on-year growth of 26.9% in total retail sales of consumer goods and services during the period,  reaching over VND33 trillion ($1.3 billion).

Total export revenue stood at $1.39 billion, soaring 10.2% year-on-year.
