In its Notice No. 19/TB-VPCP, dated January 15, the Government Office announced the conclusions of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha at the meeting on adjusting the investment policy for the Phan Thiet Airport project's aviation civilian component under the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) contract model.

The Deputy Prime Minister has tasked the People's Committee of the south central province of Binh Thuan with finalizing the pre-feasibility study report for the project. This report is to be submitted to the Ministry of Planning and Investment for review and then submit  to the Prime Minister for approval of the investment policy adjustment, no later than February 2025.

Phan Thiet Airport, a dual-use military and civilian airport, was initially planned by the Ministry of Transport in 2013. Covering an area of 543 ha in Bình Thuan's Phan Thiet city, the airport's military component falls under the authority of the Ministry of National Defense, while the civil aviation component is managed by the provincial People's Committee.

According to the plan, Phan Thiet Airport is designated as a Level 4E domestic airport, serving both civil and military purposes. It will feature a single runway of 3,050 m in length and a passenger terminal designed to handle up to 2 million passengers per year.
