Ms. Luu Thi Thanh Mau, CEO of the Phuc Khang Corporation, told the Business Leaders Forum 2022 that expanding its female workforce is an important goal for the company’s management team. Female executives are fully supported to fulfill their assignments at work alongside their roles at home.
The Business Leaders Forum 2022 was an important event organized jointly by the Australian Embassy, the Vietnam Business Coalition for Women’s Empowerment (VBCWE), and Vietnam Economic Times, and this year was held amid numerous challenges surfacing during the post-pandemic recovery.
With the theme “Reviving human resources in post-Covid-19 - Building inclusive workplaces”, the gathering featured speakers representing international organizations and Vietnamese associations and enterprises. Ms. Mau, who is also Vice Chair of the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association, was among speakers at a panel discussion who gave their opinions on reviving human resources to help enterprises recover and develop.
She said that promoting a culture of diversity, integration, and inclusiveness plays a crucial role in economic recovery and is a key goal for most enterprises and organizations. Many studies have found worthy benefits from diversity and inclusiveness. Diversity and a mindset of respecting difference and promoting integration have given rise to safety and liberty that in turn nurtures creativity and consequently a happy working environment where individuals can grow, develop their careers, and contribute to the company’s sustainable development.
In discussions with other business leaders, she stressed that a culture of diversity and inclusiveness is key for young entrepreneurs to comprehend differences and accept and respect these differences, helping people adapt to the business environment, find an ideal working environment for creativity, feel respected and acknowledged for their efforts and achievements, and take on new challenges for experience and personal development, to contribute and reposition themselves.
Following discussions on developing a culture of diversity and integration and promoting the workforce, Ms. Mau and other speakers dug deep into issues of gender equality in business. Addressing the topic, she called attention to the actual experience at her company. “The growth of the female workforce at Phuc Khang is an important goal for the company’s management,” she explained. “Female executives are fully supported to fulfill their assignments at work alongside their roles as wives and mothers. Apart from enjoying all of the benefits regulated by the State, female employees at Phuc Khang are also offered training opportunities to improve their knowledge and skills.”
The Phuc Khang Corporation is a developer of green constructions with the mission of “pioneering and promoting the creation of a better lifestyle for community wellness and a sustainable humanistic ecosystem in line with global green standards.” In upholding the principle that sustainable development must stem from responsible development, Phuc Khang not only makes efforts to develop world-acclaimed green buildings but also spends resources on training and nurturing talent, and respects difference and diversity in gender, age, and origin.
It will continue to assess gender equality at the workplace using the Gender Equality Assessment, Results and Strategies tool, as used by VBCWE. This assessment is expected to help it understand existing issues and comprehend opportunities and advantages from a gender equality strategy, allowing it to strive for more important goals to improve the company’s business results.
