Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked relevant agencies and investor and contractors to strive to basically complete construction of the Long Thanh International Airport project (phase 1)  by the end of 2025, ahead of schedule, the Government News has reported.

The PM made the request while inspecting the construction site of the project in southern Dong Nai province on September 24.

This is the Government leader’s fourth examination over the past two years.

The Long Thanh International Airport has total investment of an estimated VND336.63 trillion ($13.6 billion), with construction divided into three phases.

The first phase has total investment of nearly VND110 trillion ($4.43 billion), with construction of a passenger terminal and runway getting underway last August. The terminal will be able to cater to 25 million passengers and handle 1.2 million tons of cargo a year.

It is scheduled to be put into use in 2026.

PM Chinh spoke highly of Dong Nai province’s handover of nearly 99% of the ground needed for the project.
