Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 25 met with President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and President of the Cambodian Senate Hun Sen who is in Vietnam to attend the State funeral of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Government News has reported.
PM Chinh extended sincere thanks to Mr. Hun Sen for travelling to Vietnam to pay homage to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, adding that the Party, State and people of Viet Nam feel moved for having received the deepest condolences from the King, the Cambodian People's Party, the leaders of the Cambodian Parliament and other agencies and organizations of Cambodia over the demise of the Party General Secretary.
Mr. Hun Sen said the demise of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a great loss to the Party, Government and people of Viet Nam as well as to leaders and people of Cambodia.
The two sides agreed that the two countries will continue coordinating closely in the implementation of the sides' joint statements and cooperation agreements; increasing the exchange of high-level visits and contacts; and promoting the role of the existing cooperation mechanisms as well as cooperation between the two countries' ministries, agencies and localities.
The two sides also affirmed their resolve to work with Laos to further consolidate and cement the relations between the three neighboring countries.
Earlier on the same day, State President To Lam hosted a reception for President of the Cambodian People's Party and President of the Cambodian Senate Hun Sen.
