Hanoi and Vientiane should promote links via expressway networks and enhance their economic cooperation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said at a reception for Vientiane Mayor Atsaphangthong Siphandone in Hanoi on October 4, the Government News has reported.

The Prime Minister also recommended connecting the Lao capital and other localities in the country with Vietnamese cities and provinces via railway and seaport networks.

The two capital cities should enhance their cooperation in sectors such as education and training and human resources development, particularly in digital transformation, energy transition, green economy, circular economy, tourism, agriculture, services, and industry, he said.

Hanoi and Vientiane should cooperate and support each other in completing institutions and spurring socio-economic development, he added.

Mr. Siphandone said Vientiane will coordinate with Hanoi and other Vietnamese localities to effectively implement cooperative programs and projects, especially in those fields the Prime Minister suggested.
