Northern Quang Ninh province welcomed over 16.7 million tourists in the past 10 months of the year, increasing 20% compared to the same period last year, according to the provincial Department of Tourism.
Of the total, over 3 million were international visitors.
In October alone, 1.13 million tourists visited the province.
Total tourism revenue is estimated at more than VND40.1 trillion ($1.57 billion), up 38% year-on-year.
Quang Ninh targets to welcome 19 million visitors in 2024, including 3.5 million foreign holidaymakers.
To achieve the target, the province has taken many measures to promote tourism and connect markets such as organizing tourism promotion activities and sport and cultural events.
The province has also opened new sea routes to attract more international tourists. Around 60 cruise ships are expected to visit the province’s Ha Long Bay in the 2024-2025 season with a number of tourists estimated at more than 100,000. Some 20 cruise ships are scheduled to visit Ha Long Bay in the year end, bringing tourists from Europe, the US and China.
