Samsung has no plans to move its smartphone production from Vietnam to India, General Director of Samsung Vietnam Choi Joo Ho confirmed at a recent working session with authorities in northern Thai Nguyen province.
Products from Samsung manufactured in India mainly serve domestic customers, with a small proportion being exported to Africa. Its products manufactured in Vietnam, meanwhile, are exported to 128 countries and territories worldwide, according to Mr. Choi.
The volume of Samsung products manufactured in Vietnam are not affected by production in India, he said.
At the meeting, he noted that Samsung’s total investment in Thai Nguyen has increased to more than $7.5 billion.
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Hai expressed her appreciation of Samsung’s contribution to local industrial development, which has helped boost industrial production and export value as well as economic growth.
