Samsung Vietnam will strive to overcome the difficulties and fulfill its annual growth target of 15 per cent, General Director of Samsung Vietnam Choi Joo Ho told a meeting with authorities in northern Bac Ninh province on January 25.

He noted that local authorities have created favorable conditions for operations at the Samsung complex in Bac Ninh, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, which have contributed to the South Korean electronic giant’s success.

Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan, authorized by the State President, presented Mr. Choi with a friendship insignia in recognition of his contribution to enhancing relations between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

Earlier this month, Mr. Choi met with Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc.

During the meeting, Mr. Choi said Samsung is continually expanding its investment in Vietnam, with about $1.2 billion added last year. It has focused on developing supporting industries, and will strengthen cooperation with the National Innovation Center (NIC) to operate a lab for innovation and information technology, train technology talent, and support startups.

As of late 2023, Samsung had invested over $20 billion in Vietnam.
