Korean SK Group has shown interest in implementing the $2.11 billion Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant project in central Nghe An province during a meeting with provincial leaders recently.

At the meeting, the group introduced its implementation plan for the project and hoped that the plan will get approval.

The project is set to be located in Quynh Lap commune with an estimated investment capital of $2.11 billion. This investment covers various components, including the LNG power plant, gas storage facility, receiving port, breakwater, and auxiliary works, all spanning a total area of roughly 210 to 360 ha.

Additionally, the project will feature a receiving port, capable of accommodating ships with a capacity of up to 100,000 DWT.

The project is slated for commercial operation before 2030.

Once completed, the electricity generated from the plant will be connected to the 500kV Quang Trach - Quynh Luu - Thanh Hoa power transmission line or, alternatively, considered for connection to the Nghi Son LNG Thermal Power Plant.
