Vietnam boasts the resources needed to support wellness tourism but must establish a workable ecosystem to create marketable products.

Ho Chi Minh City is executing transit-oriented development (TOD) master plans tied to Metro Line 1, Metro Line 2, Thu Thiem Station, Binh Khanh Station, and the Ben Thanh – Can Gio rail link, with multiple focal areas slated to secure planning approvals within 2027.

A specific development scenario has been issued for the tourism sector to contribute to Vietnam’s overarching target of posting double-digit GDP growth to 2030 and beyond.

The project is slated for execution from 2025 to 2029, with the preparation phase running across 2025–2026 and physical implementation scheduled from 2026 to 2029.

The renovation initiative covers a total length of roughly 8.8 km, a stretch currently occupied by around 5,807 canal-side dwellings that make up 38.8% of all canal-side houses in the former District 8.

Labor exports are viewed as a key component of employment in Vietnam but ensuring positive outcomes from the experience is becoming crucial.
