Stock market posts positive August

Figures from VnDirect show that the VN-Index increased 6.3 per cent in August; higher than most countries in the region. It has, however, fallen by 14.4 per cent since the beginning of the year, but this has still surpassed the MSCI emerging market index.

Vietnam's stock market not upgraded by MSCI

Vietnam has again not been upgraded from frontier market to emerging market status by MSCI, which has announced regular market gradings for 84 stock markets worldwide. The decision is perhaps not overly surprising given MSCI’s assessment that Vietnam’s market is moving in a more negative direction.
