The General Statistics Office has reported that total trade turnover of goods in October stood at $58.27 billion, a 0.1 per cent compared to September and 5.7 per cent year-on-year. Total trade in the first ten months was $616.24 billion, up 14.1 per cent year-on-year. Trade was in surplus by over $9 billion.

Figures from the Ministry of Finance show that as of the end of August, the amount of tax extensions totaled VND52 trillion ($2.2 billion), or 38.5 per cent of the plan. The amount of tax exemptions and reductions, meanwhile, is unprecedented, at nearly VND48 trillion ($2.03 billion).

Figures from the General Department of Customs show that total two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Russia reached $2 billion in the first half of 2022, down 18.6 per cent. The Russia - Ukraine conflict has had a negative impact on Vietnam’s exports to Russia, with many exporters facing major problems. Some said they left export orders to the country unfilled over concerns about transportation and payment.

At the 78th Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Session held in Bangkok on May 24, Vietnam’s General Statistics Office (GSO) was elected to the Executive Council of the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP). This is a good opportunity for the country to strengthen cooperation and demonstrate its commitment to the statistical field in the region.

The Danish Statistical Office (Denmark Statistics) and the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) signed an agreement on November 26. Denmark will provide DKK6.5 million (about $1 million) to help Vietnam compile complete and reliable official statistics under international standards.
