Unemployment insurance policy in place for 10 years under the Law on Employment.

Figures show that as of August 25, local social insurance agencies had provided support from the Unemployment Insurance Fund to more than 339,000 employees totaling more than VND963 billion ($40 million). Nineteen of Vietnam’s 63 cities and provinces have completed implementing the support package from the Unemployment Insurance Fund.

As of November 1, over 8.3 million Covid-19-hit workers had received support from the unemployment insurance fund totaling more than VND19.8 trillion ($868.89 million).

The National Assembly Standing Committee has agreed with a government proposal on using VND30 trillion ($1.31 billion) from the Unemployment Insurance Fund to support employees and enterprises affected by Covid-19.
