Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann on October 18, when the latter attended the OECD Southeast Asia Program 2022 in Hanoi. Mr. Cormann spoke highly of Vietnam’s development and said it is one of only a few economies to recover strongly in 2022 and have a positive outlook for 2023. The OECD will continue to accompany Vietnam in economic recovery and reform towards green and sustainable development goals.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, of the more than $371 billion in import and export turnover in the first half of 2022, turnover with Asia was nearly $240 billion, or 64.5 per cent. Trade turnover with Africa fell just 0.3 per cent, to more than $4 billion. Trade was in surplus by $743 million in the first half.
The Vietnam - Japan Festival 2022 took place from July 14 to 17 in central Da Nang city, offering unique cultural activities from the two countries and attracting the participation of many organizations and enterprises from both. The “Japan Tourism - Connecting Vietnam - Japan travel agencies” seminar was also held, to promote tourism cooperation between Japan and Da Nang city in particular and Vietnam in general.
