Transportation activities in the first seven months of 2023 grew solidly in terms of both passenger and cargo transport, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
Passenger transport was estimated at over 2.61 billion people, an increase of 15.8 per cent over the same period last year, while cargo transport stood at 1.3 billion tons, up 15.3 per cent.
Cargo transport by road and inland waterways rose 11.9 per cent and 30 per cent, respectively, during the period.
Transport by air rose a mere 0.7 per cent, while transport by rail tumbled 25.5 per cent.
