The transport sector posted positive growth in the first five months of this year, particularly freight transport services, according to the National Statistics Office.

Cargo transport volume reached nearly 1.2 billion tons, increasing 14.6% compared to the same period last year. This includes substantial growth across various sectors, specifically road transport which accounted for 880.7 million tons or 74% of the total. up 15.7%.

The number of transported passengers was estimated at over 2.25 billion, soaring 16.1% year-on-year. Transport by road accounted for the largest market share with over 2 billion, up 15.9%.

Particularly, transport by rail recorded a strong increase of 106.6% year-on-year with 17.3 million passengers.
