The Tuyen Quang Provincial People’s Committee has proposed that the Prime Minister move ahead with the second phase of the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang expressway section passing through the northern mountainous province.
In the project’s second phase, the 69-km section will be upgraded to four lanes with a roadbed width of 25 meters, while a 7.3-km road is to be built from the My Lam mineral springs tourist area to National Highway No. 2D and the expressway section.
Total investment is estimated at over VND7.43 trillion ($303 million), which will be allocated from the central budget.
The project is scheduled for implementation from 2024 to 2026.
Construction of the first phase of the expressway section began on May 28, 2023, with total investment of VND10 trillion ($408 million), and completion is expected by 2025.
The section connecting Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang provinces has a total length of 105 km, including 77 km in Tuyen Quang province.
The expressway is to extend to the Thanh Thuy international border gate in Ha Giang province in the future, for a total length of 165 km.
