Upgrades to National Highway No. 31 passing through northern Bac Giang province have been completed three months ahead of schedule, according to the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam.
Its completion is the earliest among mid-term investment projects from the Ministry of Transport in the 2021-2025 period. It was approved last March.
The highway will be officially re-opened to traffic on October 9.
The project upgraded 39.1 km of the highway to a width of 12 meters, allowing a maximum speed of 80 kph. Twelve bridges were also built.
Total investment is estimated at over VND863.6 billion ($35.9 million), from the State budget. The construction cost was over VND613 billion ($25.5 million).
The upgraded highway is expected to help meet rising transport demand, prevent traffic congestion and accidents, and boost socio-economic development in Bac Giang and nearby.
