Vietnam & Cambodia jointly exhibiting economic and defense products

Nearly 150 units and enterprises from Vietnam and Cambodia are showcasing the two countries’ economic and defense products at a four-day exhibition that opened on October 25 in Cambodia, the Voice of Vietnam has reported.

The Vietnam - Cambodia Defense Economic Production Exhibition 2023 (VIDEX 2023) is taking place from October 25-28 at the Koh Pich Exhibition and Convention Center in Phnom Penh.

On display in 200 stalls are products in technological machinery, robotics, industrial equipment, agriculture, plant varieties, garments and textiles, leather and footwear, electronics, household appliances, and construction and construction materials.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, said the exhibition is an important socio-economic and political activity between the two countries.

“The exhibition is expected to help promote friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two sides, creating opportunities for Vietnamese and Cambodian businesses to meet and exchange, thus fostering links and increasing the transfer and application of science and technology in socio-economic development,” he said.

For his part, Cambodian Secretary of State of National Defense, General Neang Phat, underlined the significance of VIDEX 2023, which will contribute to enhancing the economic, trade, and investment relationship as well as security and defense cooperation between the two sides.

Vietnam and Cambodia’s bilateral trade reached over $10 billion in 2022, up 11 per cent compared to 2021. Vietnam currently has 200 active investment projects in Cambodia, with capital of nearly $3 billion, ranking it first among ASEAN member countries and in the top 5 countries with the largest direct investment in the country.
