The 2022 Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM), with the theme “Sea, island and coastal tourism”, opened in the central city of Da Nang on December 9.

The three-day VITM 2022 features more than 400 pavilions from enterprises and tourism promotion agencies in over 30 cities and provinces in Vietnam and about 50 others from 12 countries and territories, including South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, the US, and Australia.

The expo is expected to welcome about 2,000 Vietnamese and international businesses as well as some 30,000 Vietnamese and foreign visitors buying products.

The highlight will be the “Sea and island tourism in Vietnam - Opportunities, challenges and solutions” seminar, an important activity reflecting the companionship of travel businesses around the country during the implementation of the Party Central Committee’s Resolution No. 36 on a strategy for the sustainable development of Vietnam’s marine economy to 2030 and vision to 2045.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Doan Van Viet emphasized that Vietnam’s tourism sector has gradually recovered after nearly nine months of being fully reopened.

The country has welcomed 2.7 million international visitors since the beginning of the year, catered to nearly 100 million domestic travelers, and earned revenue of over VND457 trillion ($19.4 billion).

VITM 2022 offers a chance for travel businesses, destinations, and localities in the central region in particular and in Vietnam in general to meet, find information, and seek greater cooperation and development opportunities in the new era, he said.
