Organized under the 14th edition of the “Vitality of Vietnamese Goods” program, the event is jointly hosted by the Domestic Markets Department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and the Department of Internal Trade under the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
The Lao exhibition space highlights notable signature products, including Yodsam and Champahom sticky rice, Laofood buffalo meat, Deejai beef, Lanxiang, Xieng Khouang, and Somnuek ancient tea, Beerlao, essential oils, traditional scarves, and ties. These iconic goods were specially selected to engage Hanoi consumers and visiting tourists.
Alongside Lao specialties, the Vietnamese display features selected regional items such as Viet Huong green rice pork rolls, Hanoi traditional lard pastry, Hong Lam preserved fruits, traditional figurine art by artisan Dang Van Hau, Luan Nghiep fish sauce, Le Phuong peanut candy, Kim Giang shrimp salt, Tung Duong lap cheong, Sukova cordyceps, Luong Quoi coconut products, and vegan cosmetics from Ha Noi Xanh Cooperative.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Viet Son affirmed that Vietnam and Laos share a great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive partnership continuously nurtured by generations of leaders and citizens from both nations. On this foundation, bilateral economic and trade cooperation is receiving heightened focus, with the two ministries maintaining close coordination across multiple operational fields.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the event provides a concrete platform for businesses, cooperatives, and manufacturers from both countries to meet, assess market demands, build partner networks, and expand commercial partnerships. Connections formed during the week are expected to endure past the event, bringing products closer to consumers while expanding bilateral trade channels. Each displayed product carries cultural narratives that enhance mutual understanding between the two populations.
Lao Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Khamphao Ernthavanh, stressed that the product week takes place as both nations actively implement high-level leadership agreements on economic, trade, and investment cooperation. By bringing products directly to market and facilitating face-to-face enterprise networking, the event translates high-level commitments into concrete market actions.
Mr. Tran Huu Linh, Director General of the MoIT’s Domestic Market Management and Development Authority, noted that this marks the first-time specialty products from both Vietnam and Laos are jointly showcased in a unified space on a central Hanoi boulevard. For Lao businesses, the event serves as a prime entry point to study Vietnamese consumer preferences, partner with local distributors, and penetrate the domestic market.
