In the first five months of 2025, nearly 111,800 new and returning businesses were recorded nationwide, an increase of 11.3% over the same period in 2024.
On average, nearly 22,400 businesses entered or re-entered the market each month, according to the National Statistics Office (Ministry of Finance).
In May 2025 alone, the country saw over 15,100 newly established businesses with a registered capital of more than VND156.7 trillion ($6 billion) and 98,100 registered employees. Compared to April 2025, the number of businesses decreased slightly by 0.6% and registered labor fell by 23.1%; however, registered capital saw a significant increase of 17.3%.
Compared to the same period in 2024, all indicators for May 2025 showed strong growth: up 6.1% in the number of businesses, 16.6% in registered capital, and 29.3% in labor.
Notably, the average registered capital per enterprise for the month reached VND10.4 billion (over $400,500), an 18.0% increase from the previous month and a 9.9% increase year-on-year.
A key highlight was the total additional capital registered for the economy in the first five months of this year, which reached nearly VND2.28 quadrillion (over $87.8 billion), surging by 83.8% compared to the same period in 2024. This indicates significant expansion and robust investment from currently operating businesses.
Conversely, the data also shows that market filtering and restructuring are ongoing.
In the first five months, nearly 74,600 businesses temporarily suspended operations (up 12.8% year-on-year), over 27,500 were awaiting dissolution procedures (up 18.3%), and nearly 9,600 had completed dissolution procedures (up 15.7%).
