Vietnam invested $664.8 million in 190 overseas projects in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 57.7% in capital, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Foreign Investment Agency (FIA).
In 2024, Vietnamese investors invested into 16 sectors abroad. Of which, science and technology took the lead, making up 30.2% of the total; followed by the manufacturing and processing, 21%; and electricity, 14.2%.
Vietnamese investors poured capital in 31 countries and territories last year. Countries that drew most of investment capital from Vietnam include Laos, accounting for 28.8% of the total, Indonesia 20.7%, and India 13.5%.
Cumulatively, by the end of 2024, Vietnam had 1,825 active investment projects abroad with a total registered capital exceeding $22.59 billion.
