Vietnam earned more than $1.4 billion from tra fish exports in the first eight months of 2025, up 10% year-on-year, figures from Vietnam Customs show.

In August alone, tra fish export revenue reached $200 million, increasing 5% compared to the same period last year.

Frozen tra fish fillets remained the key export item, generating over $1.1 billion, a rise of 11% year-on-year.

Exports to major markets posted strong growth. Shipments to members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) bloc brought in $242 million, up 36% year-on-year. Exports to the US stood at $234 million, up 3.7%, while the EU accounted for $120 million, rising 6%.

The sector has set a target of surpassing $2 billion in export revenue for 2025.
